These most recent paintings combine the color fade of earlier paintings
with a scale shift of the modular mark. Again, the color shifts happen
slowly and deliberately. One handmade gesture at a time, the tripods
compress towards the center as I paint them on subtly increasing curves.
I begin to model three-dimensional space by navigating my body and
gesture across a surface. I have only a basic direction upon starting;
many decisions about the shape and direction of the curves happen
during the act of painting.
