This book documents the making of two of my recent paintings: "Equator"
and "Corbelled Arch," both 2010, as I was preparing for a solo show at
Hosfelt Gallery, San Francisco. A series of studio photographs catalogues
my laborious practice of mixing dozens, sometimes hundreds of subtly
shifting colors for each painting. The book tracks my disciplined yet
surprisingly freehand painting process, as I repeat a single handmade
motif across a large surface on subtly increasing curves. A brief text
describes my relation to painting and process.
